Robert Curl is currently the second bassoonist of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, and has performed regularly with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Lyric Opera of Chicago. In the summer of 2016, he concluded a two-year membership with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the training orchestra of the Chicago Symphony. An avid chamber musician, Mr. Curl was a member of the Civic Orchestra Wind Quintet, which provided free performances in public spaces and schools around the greater Chicago area. Mr. Curl earned his Master's Degree in Orchestral Studies at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, where he studied with Dennis Michel and David McGill. Before moving to Chicago, he received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California, where he studied with Judith Farmer. Mr. Curl is originally from Tucson, Arizona.
